History of the vineyard: The Malvasia Bianca aromatica di Candia derives its name from the small Greek town of Monemvasia, in the island of Candia, the current Crete. It is not known precisely when the grape arrived in the Colli Piacentini, but in the Annali dell’agricoltura del Regno d’Italia di Filippo Re, year 1813, Malvasia is mentioned among the local varieties. At the beginning of the 1960s, it is the most cultivated white grape variety in Piacenza, with a 40% share.
